Large scale furniture to balance the massive fireplace Kitchen View from above loft
Open floor plan concept maximizes the beautiful views. Exterior View from above of the entire property & lake Spectacular Vermont Ski Chalet built using reclaimed Maple Logs
FX Design team was approached by our client to design the interiors of this unique 7000 Sq. Ft. log home after remodeling their West Hartford home.
Their log home grew from a one floor cabin to a three-floor grand chalet, adding seven bedrooms for their extended family.
The sweeping vistas of Okemo Mountain, as well as the large-scale maple log structure, presented our team with a few challenges. How to add cool hues to blend with the dominate maple logs & selecting large enough scale furniture & light fixtures so they would not be overpowered by the huge logs.
Sr. Interior Designer, Laura Bordeaux, developed a color pallet of grays/blues pulled from the natural custom stone fireplaces throughout the home. In the kitchen, she selected a brown granite with blue quartz along with a blue glass back splash to enhance the sea of wood.
The owner’s wife envisioned an antler chandelier in the living room above the fireplace. FX Design felt the antlers should be real not cast, to reflect the surrounding wilderness landscape.
A large-scale gray/blue rustic leather sectional & chaise provided a soft cozy setting. Placing low swivel chairs in front of the 20 feet high windows allows family to turn towards the beautiful Vermont vista, yet join a conversation around the family hub, in front of the fireplace.
